Music Videos & Stuff

So we got told to look at some of our favourite music videos and pick one to present, JUST ONE?! You don't know how difficult this is. There is so much to choose from, so here is a few of my favs from off the top of my head:

Close to Me - The Cure

I really like the concept of this music video. I don't know why, I just think it's really different. I've never seen anything like this before, I love the era too.

Black Coffee in Bed - Squeeze

The song and video just amuses me.

Thou Shalt always Kill - Dan le Sac VS Scroobius Pip

Another song and video that amuses me. I like the use time lapse (1.26-1.54), this is a route I am keen to explore.

We Are Your Friends - JUSTICE VS SIMIAN

Another thing I am interested in doing. I like how this video hasn't really got anything to do with the song. I don't usually like this, but in this case I think it's good. I'd like to do something this, film a load of random footage and perhaps marry it up with an appropriate song as I do not want to lipsynch.

Turn it up - Robots in Disguise

I think I am in love with the concept of the song more so than the video. Throughout the song, if you listen closely, several references from different song titles and albums are made. I really quite like this, reference to inspirations and influences.
The video itself is alright too. It is a good video if you are new to Robots in Disguise, this video is what they are all about basically. A good indroduction and insight to the life of Dee Plum and Sue Denim. As it shows them lip-synching, they stand out in their self-made clothes and the video also shows them performing live. The majority of their videos are very personal and this is an excellent example of projecting their image.

GIRL - Robots in Disguise

Another good video for getting to know Robots in Disguise. I like how silly this video is, and the linear narrative of it. Beginning. Middle. End. Again, another personal approach as both of their long-term boyfriends star in the music video.

Midnight Surprise - Lightspeed Champion

This is an amazing video! It like ten minutes long!
I really like this video, it's so surreal I've never seen anything like it.

Foundations - Kate Nash

I really, really, really dislike this song, but I like the use of time lapse.

Glogster

Brief

This year's media coursework consists of a music video alongside a cd/dvd cover and a magazine advert. We are expected to use an existing piece of music to promote a new act and create an "image".
For media GCSE I had to do something similar. My music tastes have changed and expanded some what since year ten, so this time round it is going to be very interesting.
I intend to use something obscure.
I have until this time until September to browse my music empire and stumble across something I wish to use.

This is my fifth blog!
I will be using this space for the usual..research, thoughts, planning, etc..you get the idea

A band I am really into at the moment. Going to see them at Thursday, as they are supporting Patti Smith.
I am considering using one of their songs.
It's really hard!
So many amazing songs to choose from.

I think I should force myself to perform/lipsync
